The ISCAR 5510190 is a SNMG434M3M-geometry turning insert in grade IC6025, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. That coating stack delivers a hard, wear-resistant base layer, a thermally stable middle layer, and a low-friction outer layer suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The M3M chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths. The 90-degree square insert shape and 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N) make it a double-sided, high-edge-count insert for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
The ISCAR 5510190 is suited for turning operations where the primary workpiece material is stainless steel and other ISO M-group materials, including austenitic and duplex grades. The IC6025 grade performs well in both continuous and mildly interrupted cuts at moderate cutting speeds. The M3M chip breaker is optimized for medium feeds and medium depths of cut, supporting reliable chip evacuation without excessive cutting force. This insert fits standard SNMG-style toolholders and is a production-oriented choice for shops running medium-batch to high-volume turned components.
Designed for use in standard SNMG-style turning toolholders that accept a square insert with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, 0.1875-inch thickness, and a 0.2030-inch hole diameter. Compatible with the ISCAR Isoturn toolholder series.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidelines. Ensure the pocket seat and clamp are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Always verify insert orientation and chip breaker side before initiating a cut.
