The ISCAR 5510147 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Manufactured under the ICM series, this tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The tip features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point and T-land style geometry, supporting aggressive entry and reduced thrust force. At 0.750 inches cutting diameter and 0.433 inches functional length, it fits into ICM-series drill bodies used in CNC machining centers and turning centers across metalworking environments. Installation is performed by machining professionals and tooling technicians.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S), and secondarily for steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H). The ICM series design allows rapid tip exchange without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in high-production environments. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations where consistent diameter control and tool life are critical. The slow spiral flute configuration and thinned web point support chip evacuation in these tough-to-machine materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 19, ISO number ICM 1905. Confirm body size and seat designation before ordering. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Replaceable tip drills in the ICM series are installed and serviced by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. Before changing the tip, ensure the spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and the machine is in a safe state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the correct ISCAR torque key for the twist-lock interface — do not use substitute tools, as improper seating can cause tip ejection or dimensional error. Inspect the insert seat and coolant ports on the drill body for chips or damage before installing a new tip.
