The ISCAR 5510097 is a CNMG433TF IC806 indexable turning insert from the Isoturn series, manufactured from submicron solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. This insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a 0-degree relief angle, making it well suited for demanding turning operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the insert length is 12.9 mm (0.508 inches), the thickness is 0.1875 inches, and the corner radius is 3/64 inches (0.0469 inches). The TF chip breaker geometry assists in controlling chip flow during continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. Installation is handled by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 5510097 is designed for turning operations on heat-resistant superalloys and stainless steels, as indicated by its primary workpiece material code S and secondary workpiece material code M (general steels). The maximum depth of cut is 4.50 mm (0.177 inches). This insert fits into CNMG-style toolholders and is applicable in both roughing and finishing passes depending on feed and speed parameters. It performs in applications where elevated cutting temperatures and tool wear resistance are critical factors, such as aerospace component machining and precision shaft turning in industrial settings.

Insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling inserts or adjusting the toolholder. Use appropriate torque tools as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamp screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and tool life.
