The ISCAR 5509984 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the FCP series, designed for precision hole-making in metal-cutting applications. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade and carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life. The cutting diameter is 0.965 inches, with a functional length of 0.354 inches and an overall height of 0.382 inches. The drill features a 140-degree included angle, a thinned web point, a slow spiral flute configuration, and a flat bottom style. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-room professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations in steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The FCP series geometry with its 2-flute slow spiral design is appropriate for short-hole drilling where chip evacuation and hole accuracy are priorities. The insert seat size is 24, and the tip is held by a twist-lock method, allowing quick tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for use with compatible FCP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 24. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, S, and H).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before replacing the tip. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating the twist-lock tip to avoid over-torquing the carbide insert. Confirm tip seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
