The ISCAR 5509959 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the FCP series, designed for high-productivity drilling operations in metalworking and machining environments. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering thermal resistance and wear durability across demanding cutting applications. The cutting diameter is 0.472 inches, the drill features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned point, and a slow spiral flute configuration suited for chip evacuation in steel and cast iron. This part is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop settings.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for use on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The flat bottom style and web-thinned point geometry reduce thrust forces during entry. The FCP series uses a twist-style insert holding method with an ISO number of FCP 120 and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers where tip replacement extends body service life.
Designed as a replaceable tip for FCP series drill bodies using insert seat size 12, conforming to ISO number FCP 120. Compatible with primary workpiece materials coded P and K (steel and cast iron) and secondary materials coded M, S, and H per ISO material classification.
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine locked out. The twist-style tip must be seated fully and secured according to the toolholder manufacturer torque procedure before any cutting operation. Verify runout after seating the tip to ensure concentricity within acceptable tolerance for the application. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the IC908 grade when applied to hard or super-alloy materials.
