The ISCAR 5509921 is a WNMG432TF-geometry turning insert in the Isoturn series, manufactured from solid carbide and triple-coated with TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN via a CVD process. It carries the IC6025 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for cutting stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine M-group materials. The insert measures 8.70 mm (0.3425 inches) in length with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The 80-degree trigon shape (W code) provides good strength at the cutting edge. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning of stainless steel workpieces in both roughing and finishing passes within its rated maximum depth of cut of 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches). The positive rake geometry and TF chip breaker work together to manage chip evacuation on gummy, work-hardening materials. It fits standard WNMG-style insert pockets and is held by clamp or pin clamping methods. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in both residential shop and industrial production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for WNMG432-style toolholders and boring bars that accept W-geometry, M-tolerance turning inserts with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and clamp or pin clamping.
Turning inserts are seated and changed by machinists following standard CNC lathe lockout and energy-isolation procedures before any tooling work. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of debris before seating to maintain proper tolerance alignment. Torque clamping screws only to toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert for edge wear or chipping at regular intervals per shop tool-life management practices.
