The ISCAR 5509914 is a CNMG432GN-geometry carbide turning insert in the IC6025 manufacturer grade, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0-degree relief angle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it provides strong cutting edge geometry suited for medium to heavy-duty turning passes. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working to close tolerances on production turning equipment.
This insert is built for turning stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, where the IC6025 grade and CVD multilayer coating provide the hot hardness and chemical resistance required for austenitic and other difficult stainless alloys. The GN chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations in general machining shops, job shops, and production facilities running ISO M-category materials. The insert seats in CNMG-style toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CNMG432-style toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series. Compatible holders accept CNMG insert shape code C with M-tolerance and N-clearance codes using clamp or pin clamping methods.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure when tightening the clamp or pin. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the insert to ensure proper support and edge engagement.
