The ISCAR 5509911 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG431PP geometry, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Grade IC6025 uses a CVD coating sequence of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN to balance wear resistance and toughness across a wide range of cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) with a neutral clearance angle and medium tolerance (M) makes this insert well-suited for general-purpose external and internal turning. The PP chip breaker promotes positive rake cutting with controlled chip formation, reducing cutting forces at moderate feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is used in commercial and industrial machining environments where stainless steels and other ISO M-group workpiece materials are the primary application. Typical scenarios include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations on CNC turning centers in job shops and production facilities. The Isoturn series is engineered for reliability across medium roughing to semi-finishing passes. The clamp-and-pin holding method ensures secure seating in standard CNMG-compatible toolholders operating at production feed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for standard CNMG-style toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick, 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.2030 inch hole diameter and clamp-and-pin retention.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
