The ISCAR 5509609 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICP-2M series, designed for high-productivity hole-making operations in metalworking applications. The tip features a 140-degree included angle with a double-margin point type and a slow spiral flute configuration. A TiAlN coating applied via PVD process provides thermal resistance and wear protection during cutting. The insert measures 0.614 inches in cutting diameter and 0.344 inches in height, with a functional length of 0.232 inches. Manufactured to IC908 grade using submicron carbide substrate, the tip delivers consistent performance in demanding drilling cycles. Produced in conformance with ISO 13399 standards.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The ICP-2M series is commonly used in CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable tip replacement reduces downtime compared to regrinding solid drills. The two-flute spiral design and web-thinned geometry help with chip evacuation and entry stability in production drilling environments. This insert fits into compatible ICP-2M series drill bodies and is sold individually by package quantity.
Designed for use with compatible ICP-2M series replaceable tip drill bodies. ISO number ICP 156-2M. Suitable for ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. Confirm drill body seat size 15 compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC machining centers. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured before removing or seating the replaceable tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamping key for the twist-lock holding method to avoid tip movement during cutting. Do not force the tip into a seat that shows wear or damage, as improper seating affects hole quality and can cause tip fracture.
