The ISCAR 5509582 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built to ICP-2M series geometry, the tip features a 0.476 inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included drill point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The double-margin, slow-spiral flute design supports stable cutting action and accurate hole positioning. At 0.276 inches in functional length and weighing 0.057 pounds, this is a compact, precision-ground insert intended for use in compatible ICP-2M toolholders. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists handling production drilling work are the primary installers.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for primary drilling operations in steel and stainless steel, with secondary workpiece capability extending to cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP-2M series targets applications where repeatable accuracy and fast tip changeover matter, such as production machining centers and CNC turning-milling equipment running ferrous or difficult alloy components. The P-geometry insert and submicron carbide grade IC908 support aggressive feed rates on steel while maintaining edge integrity in harder materials.
Designed for use with ICP-2M series compatible toolholders accepting insert seat size 12. ISO number ICP 121-2M. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO workpiece material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC machining centers or drill presses. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the toolholder is fully secured before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified for the ICP-2M seat to achieve proper tip engagement — do not overtighten by feel alone. Confirm runout and tip seating before starting a cut, particularly when transitioning to harder workpiece materials.
