The ISCAR 5509494 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. It carries the IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability during aggressive drilling cycles. The drill tip measures 0.736 inches in cutting diameter with a 140-degree included point angle and features a thinned web geometry with a T-Land style cutting edge. With a functional length of 0.301 inches and an overall projection of 0.413 inches, this is a compact tip engineered for precise fitment in ICM-series drill bodies used by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This replaceable tip drill tip is intended for use in metals where tool life and hole quality are critical. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it well suited for aerospace, medical, and heavy industrial machining applications. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials, broadening its usefulness across job shop environments. It runs a slow spiral flute type with a twist insert holding method and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling standards. This tip is a sold-individually replacement component that mounts into a compatible ICM-series drill body.
Designed as a replacement tip for ISCAR ICM-series replaceable tip drill bodies, ISO Number ICM 187, with an insert seat size of 18. Verify drill body series and seat size before ordering.
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the drill body is removed from the spindle and fully de-energized before seating or removing the tip. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque tool or key to secure the tip with a twist-lock method - do not use substitutes that could damage the seating surfaces. Inspect the tip pocket for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new tip to ensure proper seating and runout.
