The ISCAR 5509462 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. Part of the ICP series, this insert-style drill tip features a 0.307-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included point angle, and a slow spiral flute geometry with a web-thinned point for reduced thrust forces at entry. The TiAlN PVD coating in IC908 grade provides heat resistance and wear performance suited to interrupted cuts and demanding feed rates. The honed cutting edge geometry contributes to consistent tool life across production runs. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with steel and stainless steel applications will find the submicron carbide substrate well matched to tight-tolerance drilling cycles.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for drilling steel and is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series uses a twist insert-holding method, securing the tip mechanically in a compatible ICP body without adhesives or brazing. It is well suited to CNC machining centers and turning centers in job shop and production environments where quick tip changes reduce downtime. The insert seat size is 7 and the ISO number is ICP 078, conforming to ISO 13399 standards for tool data representation.
Designed for use with compatible ISCAR ICP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 7. Rated for primary workpiece material steel (ISO P) and secondary materials stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before tip replacement. Use the correct ISCAR torque key for the ICP twist-lock interface — do not use substitute drivers, as improper seating will affect runout and tip retention. Verify tip seating and runout with a dial indicator before resuming production cuts.
