The ISCAR 5509303 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for use in ISCAR ICP-series modular drill bodies. Manufactured to IC908 grade with a submicron carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding metal-removal applications. It features a 140-degree included point angle, a web-thinned tip geometry, a honed cutting edge style, and a slow spiral flute configuration. The insert measures 0.291 inches in cutting diameter and 0.181 inches in height. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This replaceable tip is intended for drilling operations in steel as the primary workpiece material. It is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series modular system allows the tip to be indexed or replaced without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in high-volume production runs. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers where consistent entry geometry and tool life are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP-series modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 7, ISO Number ICP 074. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation and replacement of carbide drill tip inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamping key to secure the insert in the drill body seat — do not use substitutes that may damage the seating surface. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and runout.
