The ISCAR 5509289 is a replaceable drill tip engineered for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Part of the ICM series, this insert seats into compatible modular drill bodies using a clamp-style holding method. The tip measures 0.5670 inches (14.00 mm) in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree point angle with a web-thinned geometry for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The solid carbide substrate uses a submicron grain material grade, and the TiAlN coating is applied via PVD process for heat resistance and extended tool life. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians handling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium applications are the primary installers of this tip.
This drill tip is designed primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It is sized to insert seat 14 and carries ISO number ICM 144. Typical applications include production drilling operations where modular drill systems are used to reduce changeover time without removing the full drill body from the spindle. This tip is suited to both horizontal and vertical machining centers running helical-flute modular drill programs.
Designed for use with ICM-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 14. Compatible with workpiece materials coded M and S as primary (stainless steel, superalloys, titanium) and P, K, and H as secondary (steel, cast iron, hard material). ISO number ICM 144.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool assembly secured before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key for the ICM seat to achieve correct tip engagement without over-torquing the clamp. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before installing a new tip, as contamination can cause runout and premature edge failure.
