The ISCAR 5509283 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICP series, designed for precision drilling operations in metalworking applications. This tip carries the IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The 140-degree included point angle with a thinned web reduces thrust force and improves centering at drill entry. The honed cutting edge geometry and slow spiral flute design make this insert a reliable choice for production drilling environments where consistent hole quality is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tip type.
This replaceable tip drill insert is intended for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material, with rated secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series system uses a twist-lock holding method to secure the tip in a compatible ICP-series drill body. The ISO number for this tip is ICP 191 with an insert seat size of 19. It is suited to both horizontal and vertical machining center setups where repeatability and tool-change speed are priorities. This insert is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Designed for use with compatible ICP-series drill bodies that accept an insert seat size 19 and the ICP 191 ISO interface. Specific body compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR ICP series documentation before ordering.
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures before any tooling change. The twist-lock interface must be fully engaged and torqued per the drill body manufacturer specification using the correct key or wrench supplied with the drill body system. Inspect the insert seat and coolant ports for chips or debris before seating the new tip. Do not use damaged or out-of-spec tips, as improper seating can result in runout and premature failure.
