The ISCAR 5509267 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide at IC908 submicron grade and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, providing heat resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 140-degree included drill point angle with a thinned point, T-Land style geometry, and a slow spiral flute configuration. The cutting diameter measures 0.764 inches and the functional length is 0.317 inches. The tip height is 0.433 inches (11 millimeters). This insert is intended for installation by machinists and tool-crib technicians into compatible ICM-series drill bodies.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). Typical applications include production drilling in aerospace, medical, and general machining environments where tool longevity and hole quality in difficult-to-machine alloys are critical requirements. The ICM 194 ISO insert designation applies. This tip does not include internal coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for external coolant or flood-coolant setups.
Designed for use with ICM-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting an insert seat size of 19. ISO insert number ICM 194 applies. Confirm body series and seat size before ordering to ensure proper fit and clamping engagement.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop safety procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or drive key to seat the tip to the correct clamping torque as indicated in the drill body documentation — do not over-tighten or use impact tools. Inspect the insert pocket and coolant ports on the body for damage or debris before seating a new tip. Misalignment of the tip during installation can cause premature tip failure or poor hole quality.
