The ISCAR 5509149 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. Manufactured to IC908 grade using a submicron carbide substrate, the tip carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The cutting diameter measures 0.913 inches, with a 140-degree included angle and a thinned, honed cutting edge geometry that reduces thrust forces at entry. Two slow-spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently, and the insert seat uses a twist-style holding method for repeatable tip location and fast changeouts on the shop floor.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material, with rated secondary compatibility covering stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series design is common in CNC machining centers and turning centers where rapid tip replacement minimizes downtime. The drill conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, making it compatible with CAM and tool-management software that reads standardized cutting-tool attributes. Typical users are CNC machinists and tool crib personnel in job shops and production manufacturing environments.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 23. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per the workpiece material classifications P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key to seat the tip to the manufacturer-specified holding method; do not use impact tools on the insert seat. Verify runout and tip seating before resuming cutting operations. Handle carbide tips carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
