The ISCAR 5509115 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. This insert carries the IC908 manufacturer grade and is manufactured from submicron solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The cutting diameter is 0.835 inches, the included drill point angle is 140 degrees, and the functional length is 0.352 inches. The T-Land style geometry with a web-thinned point reduces entry force and improves centering. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tip into compatible ICM-series drill bodies on machining centers and turning centers.
This replaceable tip is engineered for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, classified under ISO material codes M and S. It is also suitable as a secondary application for steel, cast iron, and hard materials under ISO codes P, K, and H. The slow spiral flute design and 2-flute configuration support chip evacuation in these tough-to-machine materials. The insert is held in the drill body by a twist locking method and is sized to ISO Number ICM 212. It is well suited to production environments where tip replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle reduces changeover time.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICM-series drill bodies, ISO Number ICM 212, insert seat size 21. Confirm drill body seat size and ISO number before ordering to ensure proper seating and runout.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench or key for the twist-lock mechanism — do not overtighten by hand or with unapproved tools. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new tip, as contamination in the seat pocket will affect runout and tip retention.
