The ISCAR 5509092 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICP series, designed for use in compatible ICP-style drill bodies. Manufactured to manufacturer grade IC908 using a submicron solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers consistent performance in demanding metal-cutting applications. The 140-degree included angle point geometry with web thinning reduces entry force and improves centering accuracy. The honed cutting edge and slow spiral flute configuration support controlled chip evacuation. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary capability across stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. Cutting diameter is 0.819 inches and the functional length is 0.332 inches.
This replaceable tip is suited for production drilling in metalworking environments including general machining, job shops, and manufacturing operations targeting steel and multi-material workpieces. The ICP series replaceable tip format allows fast tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in high-volume or short-run production scenarios. It is manufactured to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with tool management and CAM software that recognizes that data format. Insert seat size is 20 and the ISO number is ICP 208. Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using standard torquing procedures for twist-lock replaceable tip systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for use with compatible ISCAR ICP-series drill bodies at insert seat size 20, per ISO number ICP 208.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the drill body is secured or removed from the spindle before handling the tip. Use the correct torque tool specified for the ICP twist-lock system - do not overtighten or use improvised tools, as this can damage the seating surface. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new tip.
