The ISCAR 5509088 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. The drill tip is manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The included point angle is 140 degrees with a web-thinned, honed cutting edge geometry that reduces thrust force at entry. The cutting diameter is 0.795 inches (20.19 mm), and the tip height is 0.457 inches (11.61 mm). Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tip into compatible ICP-series drill bodies as a drop-in replacement, minimizing downtime versus regrinding conventional drills.
The 5509088 replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute type and P insert geometry make it appropriate for both through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable positioning and consistent hole quality are required. The insert seat size is 20, corresponding to standard ICP-series drill body holders. This tip is sold individually and is intended for production environments where changeover speed and dimensional consistency are priorities.
Designed for use with ICP-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 20, per ISO 13399 tooling standards. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and removed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's torque and seating procedure for ICP-series tips. Ensure the drill body seat is clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the new tip, as debris under the tip will affect runout and hole quality. Always de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before handling cutting inserts. Follow the tooling manufacturer's recommended cutting data for the IC908 grade and the specific workpiece material.
