The ISCAR 5509083 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for the ICK drill series, carrying manufacturer grade IC908 with a TiAlN PVD coating. It features a 140-degree included angle, a honed cutting edge style, and a slow spiral flute configuration with web thinning at the tip. The insert measures 0.535 inches in cutting diameter and 0.299 inches in height. At 0.04 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground cutting tip intended for professional machinists and toolroom technicians working in production drilling applications.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for drilling cast iron, with secondary suitability for steel, stainless steel, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials. It fits insert seat size 13 within the ICK series holder system, conforming to ISO 13399 standards. Typical applications include production drilling on CNC machining centers and lathes where a replaceable carbide tip offers a cost-effective alternative to solid carbide drill replacement. The IC908 grade combined with TiAlN coating extends tool life in abrasive and interrupted cut conditions common in cast iron and hard material drilling.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICK series replaceable tip drill holders at insert seat size 13. ISO number reference: ICK 136. Verify holder bore and seat size before installation. Compatible with workpiece materials coded K (cast iron), P (steel), M (stainless steel), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials) per ISO material classification.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are installed and removed by a qualified machinist using the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the holder manufacturer. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating the tip, as debris under the insert will affect runout and can cause premature tip failure. Follow the holder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications printed on the holder body or in the tool documentation.
