The ISCAR 5508788 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to IC908 submicron carbide grade standards, this drill tip features a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting through ferrous and hard materials. The 140-degree drill point angle and slow spiral flute geometry promote clean entry and efficient chip evacuation. The double margin design provides added stability and bore quality. Weighing 0.046 pounds, this compact tip measures 0.276 inches in overall height and seats into ICP-2M series drill bodies. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This replaceable tip is engineered for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material, with rated capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP-2M series design is suited to CNC machining centers and turning centers where consistent hole geometry and fast tip changeover are priorities. The P insert geometry and size-12 insert seat are specific to the ICP-2M body platform. This drill tip conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, supporting digital tool management workflows in modern shops.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP-2M series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting a size-12 insert seat. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling interface standards.
Replaceable tip drills of this type are seated and secured by twist-lock engagement into the mating drill body — ensure the body bore and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before installing the tip. Power down the spindle and follow lockout procedures before any tip change on a CNC machine tool. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling documentation for recommended clamping torque and runout tolerances. Handling carbide tips with bare hands can introduce contamination; use clean shop gloves or clean cloth during installation.
