The ISCAR 5508787 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for precision hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the ICP-2M series, this insert features a 0.453-inch (29/64 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree included drill point angle, and a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting ferrous and high-temperature alloys. The double-margin point geometry and slow spiral flute design promote hole accuracy and stable chip evacuation. At 0.178 inches functional length and 0.26 inches overall height, the insert seats into a size 11 insert seat using a twist-type holding method. The IC908 submicron carbide grade gives this tip strong wear resistance in tough cutting conditions.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for precision drilling operations in CNC machining centers and turning centers across job shop and production environments. Its primary workpiece material rating is steel (ISO P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO M, K, S, H). Machinists and tooling technicians in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing will find this insert applicable wherever consistent hole diameter and finish are required. Web thinning is pre-applied, reducing entry forces at the drill point.
Designed to fit ICP-2M series drill bodies using a size 11 insert seat with twist-type clamping. Compatible with ISO Number ICP 115-2M. Verify seat size and clamping method against the specific drill body before ordering.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are installed and removed by tooling technicians using the torque wrench or key specified by the drill body manufacturer. Always ensure the spindle is locked and machine power is off before changing inserts. Clean the insert pocket and inspect for debris or wear before seating the new tip. Follow the drill body manufacturer's clamping procedure to ensure proper seating and runout.
