The ISCAR 5508602 is a replaceable drill tip designed for precision drilling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Made from solid carbide with a submicron material grade and an IC908 manufacturer grade, this tip delivers consistent cutting performance in high-stress applications. The TiAlN coating is applied via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life. With a 140-degree drill point angle and a thinned web geometry, the tip reduces thrust force at entry and improves chip evacuation. It fits the ICM series insert seat size 18 and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC drilling operations.
This drill tip is suited for both production and job-shop environments where interchangeable drill tip systems are used. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, classified under ISO material groups M and S. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials, classified under ISO groups P, K, and H. The slow spiral flute type and T-Land style geometry make this tip particularly well-suited for work-hardening materials that require controlled chip flow and stable cutting edges. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 2.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies, insert seat size 18, ISO number ICM 182. Consult ISCAR tooling documentation to confirm body and shank compatibility before ordering.
Replaceable drill tips of this type are installed and removed by a licensed machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's torque and seating specifications. Before changing tips, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and the tool holder is secured in a vise or fixture. Do not force the tip into the seat; inspect the seat for chips or debris before installation. Follow the drill body manufacturer's clamping procedure to avoid damaging the insert seat.
