The ISCAR 5508598 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. The tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life when drilling steel and other demanding materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.72 inches, the included point angle is 140 degrees, and the tip features a web-thinned geometry for reduced thrust at entry. With a slow spiral flute design and honed cutting edge, this insert is built for controlled chip evacuation and consistent hole quality in production environments. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically installs and indexes this tip in the field.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations on steel as the primary workpiece material and is also rated for stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series platform uses an insert seat size of 18 and a twist-style holding method for secure tip engagement. It is a practical choice for job shops, aerospace component shops, and production machining cells where tip indexing reduces downtime versus regrinding solid drills.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 18, ISO number ICP 183. Confirm body designation and seat size before ordering tips.
Tip indexing on replaceable tip drill systems should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool or key for seating the tip to ensure proper clamping without over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the drill body seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new tip, as contamination at the seat interface can cause runout and premature tip failure. Follow the machine tool builder and tooling manufacturer guidelines for coolant pressure and feed rate when first running a newly indexed tip.
