The ISCAR 5508484 is a replaceable drill tip designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Part of the ICM series, this solid carbide insert features a 0.6570-inch (17.00 mm) cutting diameter with a 140-degree point angle and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The two-flute helical design with web thinning promotes chip evacuation and reduces thrust. Intended for use with compatible ICM-style drill bodies, this tip is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This drill tip is primarily suited for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, where the IC908 submicron carbide grade and TiAlN coating deliver the wear resistance needed for difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The standard point geometry and regular spiral make it appropriate for general hole-making operations on CNC machining centers and similar machine tools. Insert seat size is 16, corresponding to ICM series drill body compatibility (ISO number ICM 167).
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series replaceable-tip drill bodies requiring insert seat size 16. ISO number ICM 167. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H).
Installation and replacement of this drill tip should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling assembly guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque tool and seating procedure specified by the ICM drill body documentation to avoid damaging the clamp or seat. Do not run the tip without confirming proper seating and clamp engagement.
