The ISCAR 5508476 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for precision hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Manufactured from solid carbide in Grade IC908 with a submicron material grade, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via a PVD process for extended wear resistance. The 140-degree included angle and web-thinned point geometry reduce cutting forces and improve entry accuracy. The honed cutting edge and slow spiral flute design contribute to stable chip evacuation. Licensed HVAC and metalworking trade professionals and machining technicians install this insert into compatible ICP-series drill bodies.
This insert fits the ISCAR ICP series replaceable tip drill system and is intended for production drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is suited for general machining centers and CNC turning or milling setups where repeatable hole quality at a 0.654-inch cutting diameter is required. The insert seat size is 16, and the ISO number for this insert is ICP 166. Typical applications include batch drilling in industrial and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 16. ISO number for this tip is ICP 166. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary materials are stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamping key to secure the insert twist-lock mechanism — do not use substitute tools that may damage the seating surface. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before each insert change to ensure proper seating and runout.
