The ISCAR 5508464 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICM series, designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The drill tip carries the IC908 grade designation, produced from submicron solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat resistance and extended edge life. The cutting diameter measures 0.626 inches (16.00 mm) and the included point angle is 140 degrees, a geometry suited to work-hardening materials where controlled entry and minimal thrust are priorities. Two helical flutes and a web-thinned design support chip evacuation in deep-hole and interrupted-cut conditions. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tooling specialists in metalworking environments are the primary installers of this tool type.
The ICM series replaceable tip drill is applied in CNC machining centers and drilling operations targeting stainless steel and superalloy workpieces as the primary material group. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The tip mounts via a clamp holding method into an ICM-compatible insert seat size 15 body. The ISO number for this tip is ICM 159, and the tip conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation. This configuration is common in aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing applications where carbide tip replacement reduces per-hole tooling cost versus solid carbide drill replacement.

Power down and lock out the spindle before tip removal or installation. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new tip to ensure full contact and prevent runout. Do not exceed the cutting parameters published in the ISCAR ICM series application guide for the workpiece material being machined.
