The ISCAR 5508463 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, designed for precision drilling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert carries a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating process using grade IC908 submicron carbide, delivering hardness and heat resistance suited to high-performance cutting applications. With a 15.8mm cutting diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle, the thinned point geometry reduces thrust and improves centering. The slow spiral, two-flute configuration supports chip evacuation in tough workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC drilling operations.
The 5508463 fits ISCAR ICM series replaceable tip drill bodies sized for a 15.8mm insert seat (ISO number ICM 158). Primary applications include drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in aerospace, medical, and general precision machining environments. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The T-Land style insert geometry with web thinning is suited for drilling where consistent hole quality and controlled burr formation are required. This insert is sold individually; minimum order quantity is 2 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting a 15.8mm insert seat (ISO designation ICM 158). Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, titanium (ISO material codes M and S) as primary, and steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H) as secondary.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with indexable tooling systems. Ensure the drill body seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Secure the insert using the twist-lock holding method specified for the ICM series body. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended by ISCAR for the IC908 grade and the specific workpiece material being drilled.
