The ISCAR 5508450 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for precision drilling in metalworking applications. This tip features a 0.61-inch cutting diameter and is manufactured from submicron solid carbide with an IC908 manufacturer grade. A TiAlN coating applied via PVD process provides heat resistance and extended tool life at high cutting speeds. The 140-degree included angle with a web-thinned, honed cutting edge geometry reduces entry thrust and improves chip flow. With a functional length of 0.251 inches and an overall projection of 0.344 inches, this drill tip is engineered for consistent, repeatable performance in through-bore and blind-hole drilling operations. Machinists and CNC operators in production environments install and service these tips.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material, and is also rated for use in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The slow spiral, two-flute design with a thinned point is optimized for controlled chip evacuation in these demanding materials. The ICP series replaceable tip system allows fast tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in high-volume production settings. The drill tip conforms to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with ISO-compliant tooling assemblies and digital tool management systems.
Designed as a replaceable tip for ICP series drill bodies accepting an insert seat size 15 and ISO number ICP 155. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Replaceable tip drills are installed and changed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the drill tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the ICP series body to seat the tip fully and evenly — do not over-torque the retention mechanism. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each tip installation to ensure proper seating and runout accuracy.
