The ISCAR 5508447 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICP series, designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining environments. Carrying the IC908 grade with a submicron carbide substrate, this insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that supports high-speed cutting and extends edge life in abrasive workpiece materials. The drill tip has a 140-degree included angle with a thinned point geometry and a honed cutting edge for controlled entry and reduced thrust force. It is sized at 0.598 inches cutting diameter with a functional length of 0.253 inches, and weighs 0.066 pounds. Machinists and tool-room professionals install this replaceable tip as part of a modular drill body system, swapping tips at the machine without removing the full tool assembly.
This insert is suited for drilling steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary applications in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute type and web-thinned point support chip evacuation in these materials. It fits Insert Seat Size 15 within the ICP series modular drill system and conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation. Typical use is in CNC machining centers performing production drilling operations where repeatable tip replacement is required.
Designed for use with ICP series modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 15. ISO Number ICP 152. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel; secondary materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool manufacturer seating and torque procedure for the ICP series body. Ensure the drill body bore and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting the tip. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the IC908 grade and TiAlN coating in the workpiece material being drilled. Inspect the seating engagement before starting the spindle.
