The ISCAR 5508428 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICP series, designed for precision drilling in demanding machining environments. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade, a submicron solid carbide tip coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. The cutting diameter is 0.583 inches, the included point angle is 140 degrees, and the geometry features a thinned web point with a honed cutting edge for improved entry stability. The slow spiral, two-flute design controls chip evacuation in the materials this insert is rated for. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job-shop or production environments are the primary users.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary material compatibility includes stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The ICP series platform accepts this tip in insert seat size 14. The 0.321-inch functional length makes it appropriate for relatively shallow-depth applications. It is built to the ISO 13399 standard, which supports tool assembly data exchange in CAM and presetter systems used in modern production shops.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICP series drill bodies using insert seat size 14, ISO number ICP 148. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, K, S, H).
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or tooling technician following the spindle lockout and machine-stop procedures required before any tooling change. Use the appropriate ISCAR torque key or insert clamping tool specified for the ICP series drill body to seat the tip correctly. Do not use hand tools not rated for the clamping mechanism, as improper seating affects runout and hole quality. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before mounting a new tip.
