The ISCAR 5508420 is a replaceable drill tip designed for modular drilling tool systems in metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide with a submicron grain material grade and PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. It carries a 14.00mm (0.5510 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a standard helical flute design with two flutes. Insert geometry is type P and the tip is held in place by a clamp-style insert holding method. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working in production or job-shop drilling operations.
This replaceable tip is suited for hole-making, chamfering, and drilling operations on steel as a primary workpiece material. It is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP series and ISO number ICP 140 identify its place within ISCAR modular drill systems. The tip mounts to compatible insert seat size 14 drill bodies. Typical applications include production drilling where fast tip replacement minimizes downtime without replacing the full drill body.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 14. Compatible with the ISO number ICP 140. Rated for primary use in steel (ISO material code P) and secondary use in stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or installing the drill tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamp key specified by the drill body manufacturer to secure the tip — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new tip to ensure proper contact and runout.
