The ISCAR 5508375 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, providing wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. The included angle measures 140 degrees with a thinned web point geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The cutting diameter is 0.406 inches (13/32 inch), and overall height is 0.244 inches. Two spiral flutes in a slow-spiral configuration promote chip flow in deep-hole applications. This insert is intended for professional machining environments and is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.
The ICM 5508375 is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it well suited for aerospace, medical, and oil-and-gas component machining. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials, extending its utility across general metalworking and heavy manufacturing applications. The T-Land style cutting edge geometry and M insert geometry rating align with ISO 13399 standards, supporting consistent toolholder compatibility across compliant ICM-series bodies. This tip is a direct replacement insert for ICM-series drill bodies using insert seat size 10.
Designed for use with ICM-series replaceable-tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 10, ISO number ICM 103. Compatible primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary compatibility covers steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, K, and H).
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. The insert seat should be cleaned of chips and debris before seating the new tip to ensure full contact and accurate runout. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool or wrench for the twist-lock retention method — do not overtighten or use impact tools. Confirm tip seating and runout with a dial indicator before resuming production cuts.
