The ISCAR 5508349 is a replaceable drill tip designed for modular drilling systems that accept ICM-series interchangeable tip holders. Manufactured from solid carbide in the IC908 submicron grade, this tip is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process for extended wear life in demanding applications. The 140-degree drill point angle and web-thinned, T-Land geometry reduce cutting forces and improve chip evacuation at entry and exit. At 0.358 inches cutting diameter with a functional length of 0.174 inches, the tip is engineered for dimensional accuracy in precision drilling operations performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This drill tip is suited for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute design and thinned point geometry are well matched to the low-feed, controlled-entry approach required when drilling heat-resistant and work-hardening materials in aerospace, medical, and energy-sector components. It is retained in the holder by a twist-lock insert holding method consistent with the ICM modular drill platform. Coolant-through capability is not supported by this tip.
Designed for use with ICM-series modular drill holders accepting insert seat size 9, ISO number ICM 091. Verify holder seat size and series designation before installation. No specific holder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing the drill tip. Seat the tip fully in the holder pocket and engage the twist-lock mechanism to the manufacturer-specified torque using the appropriate ISCAR torque key — do not over-tighten by hand or with non-specified tools. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before each tip change to maintain runout accuracy.
