The ISCAR 5508335 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICP series, designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding machining environments. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering heat resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds. The drill point is ground to a 140-degree included angle with web thinning and a honed cutting edge, reducing entry force and improving centering on flat or slightly angled surfaces. With 2 slow-spiral flutes and a twist-style insert holding method, this tip seats securely into a compatible ICP 9 series drill body. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in steel, stainless, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials will find this tip suited to roughing and semi-finishing drill cycles.
The 5508335 tip is intended for use in ICP series replaceable-tip drill bodies with a size 9 insert seat. Typical applications include CNC turning center and machining center operations where through-holes are required in steel and multi-material workpiece environments. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with secondary ratings covering stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H). The slow-spiral flute geometry supports chip evacuation in these material groups without requiring through-coolant in the tip itself.
Designed for use with ICP series replaceable-tip drill bodies accepting a size 9 insert seat (ISO Number ICP 093). Verify body seat size and clamping method before ordering.
Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tip. Use the correct torque driver or wrench specified by ISCAR for the ICP series body — do not use impact tools. Inspect the insert seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new tip, as a compromised seat will cause premature tip failure or runout issues.
