The ISCAR 5508317 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICK series, designed for precision hole-making in demanding production environments. It carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering heat and wear resistance during high-speed drilling cycles. The cutting tip measures 8.71mm (0.343 inches) in diameter and 5.41mm (0.213 inches) in height. The 140-degree included drill point angle and web-thinned point geometry reduce entry forces and improve chip evacuation. Two spiral flutes with a slow spiral type and honed cutting edge round out the design. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-setup technicians are the primary installers of this insert.

This replaceable tip drill insert is suited to high-volume drilling applications in cast iron as its primary workpiece material. It also performs in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICK series uses a twist-style insert holding method, seating into compatible ICK drill bodies at insert seat size 8. Applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers where consistent hole quality and tool-tip changeability are priorities. This insert does not include internal coolant-through delivery.

Installation Notes

Confirm runout and seating with a dial indicator before returning the tool to service.
