The ISCAR 5508266 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible modular drill bodies in metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide with a submicron-grade substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding hole-making operations. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade, features a 140-degree included point angle, and uses a clamp-style insert holding method with an insert seat size of 10. The ICP series tip is engineered for productive drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Two helical flutes and a regular spiral promote chip evacuation and stable cutting action.
This drill tip is suited for hole making, chamfering, and gundrilling operations in both production shop and job shop environments. Its primary target workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working on milling centers and dedicated drilling machines are the primary installers. The tip conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, making it compatible with tool management systems that use that format.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 10 and the ICP 108 ISO number configuration. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Verify drill body seat size and series before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the drill body manufacturer's clamping procedure. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the tip. Clean the insert seat thoroughly to remove chips and debris before installing the new tip, as contamination can affect seating accuracy and tip life. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended clamping torque procedure for the specific drill body in use.
