The ISCAR 5508237 is a DNMG442WG-style solid carbide turning insert in the IC807 manufacturer grade, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a WG chip breaker geometry. With an insert length of 15.5 mm (0.610 inches) and a thickness of 1/4 inch, it is sized to DNMG442 standard and held by clamp and pin methods. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in toolholders designed for the DNMG style.
This insert is suited for turning applications in ISO material groups M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (superalloys and titanium). The IC807 grade with PVD TiAlN coating performs well at moderate-to-high cutting speeds where heat buildup and edge wear are primary concerns. The WG chip breaker promotes reliable chip control across varied feed rates and depths of cut. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes depending on the cutting parameters selected. The Isoturn series designation places this insert within a standardized tooling family aligned to ISO 13399.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and clamp-and-pin holding method, conforming to ISO 13399 standards. Compatible with ISO material groups M, P, and S workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp and pin are properly engaged before resuming cutting operations. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
