The ISCAR 5507976 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, designed for use with compatible ICM tip-change drill bodies in metal-cutting operations. This insert features a TiAlN PVD coating and a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point geometry, which reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation at the drill tip. The cutting diameter measures 0.63 inches (16 mm), and the insert height is 0.366 inches (9.3 mm). Manufactured to the IC908 submicron carbide grade, it delivers wear resistance in demanding interrupted and continuous cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the typical end users.
This insert is intended for drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as the primary workpiece materials. It is also suitable for secondary applications in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The ICM series replaceable-tip system allows fast tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in high-volume drilling cycles. The insert seats in an ICM 160 (16 mm seat size) compatible drill body and is held in place by a twist-lock method. Slow spiral flute geometry and a T-Land cutting edge style suit the shear-sensitive and work-hardening nature of the primary target materials.
Designed for use with ICM series tip-change drill bodies accepting an ICM 160 (16 mm) insert seat. ISO number ICM 160 as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The drill body must be removed from the spindle or confirmed stationary and the machine placed in an e-stop or lockout state before seating or removing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or locking key to engage the twist-lock mechanism — do not use substitutes that could damage the seating interface. Inspect the insert seat pocket for chips or debris before each tip change to ensure full seating and runout accuracy.
