The ISCAR 5507972 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICP series, designed for high-productivity drilling in metalworking applications. Manufactured from submicron solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this tip delivers thermal and wear resistance during demanding cutting operations. The insert features a 140-degree drill point angle, a honed cutting edge, a web-thinned point, and a slow spiral flute configuration. At 0.630 inches in cutting diameter and 0.366 inches in height, it seats in a size-16 insert seat. Manufacturer grade IC908 is suited for steel and a range of other workpiece materials. This insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 2.
This replaceable tip drill insert is intended for use in CNC machining centers and modular drill body systems that accept ICP-series tips. Primary application is drilling in steel (ISO material code P). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, K, S, and H). It is a common choice for production drilling where tip replacement without full tool discard is preferred. The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards and carries the ISO number ICP 160. This product does not include through-coolant capability.
Designed for use with ICP-series modular drill bodies accepting a size-16 insert seat. Confirmed compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual drill press setups. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper tip engagement — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before mounting to ensure accurate tip positioning and repeatable runout.
