The ISCAR 5507903 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The insert carries ISCAR grade IC908, a submicron solid carbide grade applied with a PVD-coated TiAlN finish for extended wear resistance and heat control at the cutting edge. The drill point features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point and slow spiral fluting with two flutes. At 0.35 inches cutting diameter and 0.213 inches in height, this tip fits into compatible ICM series drill bodies and is used in production machining environments where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium workpieces, making it well suited for aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing applications. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The T-Land cutting geometry and thinned web reduce entry forces and improve chip evacuation in difficult-to-machine materials. Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with ICM series drill bodies on CNC machining centers and multi-spindle equipment.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ICM series drill bodies with an insert seat size of 8, conforming to ISO 13399 tooling interface standards. ISO number ICM 089.
Installation and replacement of carbide drill tips should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct torque tool and seating method specified by the drill body manufacturer to avoid tip damage or incorrect seating. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or contamination before installing a new tip. Do not exceed the feed and speed parameters recommended for the IC908 grade and the specific workpiece material.
