The ISCAR 5507880 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in the SOMX06DT configuration, engineered for use in ISCAR DR-TWIST series indexable drills. It carries the IC808 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating process, making it suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, an inscribed circle of 0.2441 inches, a thickness of 0.126 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (0.40 mm). Chipbreaker geometry is designated DT. Installation and replacement are performed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians on CNC or conventional drilling platforms.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, which span hardened materials, cast iron, stainless and non-ferrous alloys, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The material grade designation P15-P30 indicates suitability for light to medium steel cutting applications. It is sized to the Insert Size Code 06, with a width of 0.2440 inches (6.20 mm), and conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation. Typical use is in production drilling operations where consistent insert geometry and coating performance are required across multiple tool positions.
Designed for use in ISCAR DR-TWIST series indexable drills. Insert Size Code 06, conforming to ISO 13399, for use in toolholders accepting SOMX-style square inserts with a 0.2441-inch inscribed circle.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screws when seating the insert to ensure proper location and clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before installing a new insert. Verify insert orientation and chipbreaker direction relative to the cutting application before resuming operation.
