The ISCAR 5507875 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in ISCAR DR-TWIST series indexable drills. Carrying the SOMT09DT insert style designation, this square-shaped insert is manufactured from solid carbide and coated via a PVD process with the IC808 grade, placing it in the P15-P30 material grade range. It features a 9 mm inscribed circle (0.3543 inches), a 0.15 inch thickness, and a 0.60 mm corner radius. The DT chipbreaker geometry is engineered to promote effective chip evacuation in demanding drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a multi-insert drilling tool body.
This insert is suited for indexable drill assemblies requiring a square SOMT-style peripheral or center seat insert. It performs across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its universal primary workpiece material classification and material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The IC808 PVD coating provides wear resistance and toughness across these varied cutting conditions. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations on CNC machining centers and lathes in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in ISCAR DR-TWIST series indexable drill bodies that accept SOMT09 insert seats. Compatible with workpiece materials designated H, K, M, P, and S under universal primary workpiece material classifications per ISO 13399.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not over-tighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before seating a new insert, and confirm proper indexing before resuming cutting operations.
