The ISCAR 5507870 is a WNMG433TF IC807 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations. Built to ISO 13399 standards, this trigon-shaped insert features an 80-degree included angle, a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N), and a tolerance code M fit. The IC807 grade substrate uses a submicron carbide material with a PVD-applied TiN and TiAlN dual-layer coating, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. The TF chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action, helping control chip flow and reducing cutting forces during light to medium passes.
This insert is suited for universal workpiece material applications, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. It performs in both roughing and semi-finishing passes and is rated for boring applications as well as standard turning. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. Installers working in job shop, production, or maintenance machining environments will find this insert appropriate for a wide range of material types without requiring a grade change between setups.
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders accepting WNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Rated for universal workpiece materials across ISO code groups H, K, M, P, and S.
Turning insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures before accessing the toolholder. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamp or pin fastener to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating each new insert to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the programmed feed direction before resuming cutting.
