The ISCAR 5507869 is a WNMG431TF IC807 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiN and TiAlN applied over a submicron carbide substrate, which supports extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. The TF chip breaker promotes positive rake cutting action and controlled chip formation. This insert is sized at 0.343 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it a standard 431-size insert for precision turning work.
This insert is suited for use in residential shop environments and industrial production settings alike. It is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, which span hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts. The multi-use designation also includes boring applications. Maximum depth of cut is 0.157 inches (3.99 mm). Toolroom machinists, CNC operators, and production turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series toolholders accepting WNMG-style inserts. ISO code WNMG 431-TF. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Also suitable for boring applications as designated by the multi-use rating. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by toolroom machinists or CNC operators. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and bring all spindles and axes to a full stop. Use a torx or hex key appropriate to the toolholder clamping system to secure the insert; do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
