The ISCAR 5507836 is a CNMG432NF-geometry turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating. Carrying the IC8150 manufacturer grade, this insert is engineered for external turning operations where consistent chip control and wear resistance are priorities. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) delivers a strong cutting edge geometry, while the NF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and near-finishing passes. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 12.9 mm (approximately 0.508 inches), and the insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches). Holding is accomplished via clamp or pin, and the part conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
This insert is part of the Isoturn series and is suited for CNC lathe and turning center applications in both production and job-shop environments. The IC8150 grade with CVD TiCN plus Al2O3 coating targets steel (ISO P) as its primary workpiece material and cast iron (ISO K) as a secondary material, making it applicable across a range of ferrous turning jobs. The 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius supports surface finish requirements typical of finishing-pass work, and the maximum recommended depth of cut is 3.50 mm (0.1378 inches).
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard CNMG432NF-style insert pockets in Isoturn-compatible toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed-circle, 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.2030-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder manufacturer specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and de-energized state before any insert change. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and confirm the clamp or pin engages flush before resuming operations. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut of 3.50 mm for this insert geometry, and consult the toolholder manufacturer for applicable torque specifications on clamping screws. Always wear appropriate PPE when handling carbide inserts, as edges are extremely sharp.
