The ISCAR 5507835 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432TF geometry, grade IC8150, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 80-degree trigon (W-shape) geometry with a positive rake angle reduces cutting forces and improves chip flow. The TF chip breaker is optimized for controlled chip formation across a range of feeds and depths. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
The 5507835 insert is suited for turning cast iron and steel workpieces in both roughing and finishing applications. With a maximum depth of cut of 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) and an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches, it fits standard WNMG-style toolholders used in medium to heavy turning operations. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR's Isoturn toolholder platform. Primary workpiece material codes are K (cast iron) and P (steel), covering a broad range of ferrous turning applications in job shops and production facilities.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp or pin-lock mechanism — do not overtighten the clamp screw beyond toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
