The ISCAR 5507812 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG style, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under ISCAR manufacturer grade IC8250, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0157-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 6.52 mm (0.2567 inches). Chip breaker geometry is NF with a positive rake. Holding method is compatible with clamp and pin systems. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is rated for primary use on stainless steel and steel workpiece materials (ISO material codes M and P). It is well suited for finish and semi-finish turning passes where controlled chip evacuation and edge integrity are required. The NF chip breaker geometry supports lighter depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 2.50 mm (0.0984 inches). It fits into WNMG-style toolholders designed for 3/8-inch inscribed circle inserts with clamp or pin retention. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn modular tooling configurations.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or pin holding. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and steel (ISO codes M and P). Part of the ISCAR Isoturn series. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid chatter or edge fracture. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for clamp screws.
