The ISCAR 5507806 is a CNMG-style turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces. It carries the manufacturer grade IC8250 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. The insert is constructed from solid carbide and incorporates the TF chip breaker geometry, which supports positive rake cutting action. At 0.508 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.016-inch corner radius, this insert fits standard CNMG toolholders. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically handles installation and indexing.
This insert is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on stainless steel and carbon steel in turning centers and CNC lathes. It belongs to the Isoturn series and is rated for a maximum depth of cut of 0.157 inches (3.99 mm). The multi-use designation includes compatibility with boring applications in addition to standard external turning. Its 80-degree diamond shape and neutral clearance angle make it a reliable choice for continuous and light interrupted cuts in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style toolholders compatible with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and clamp or pin holding systems. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P). Conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Iso code: CNMG 431-TF.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and all axes must be at a safe position before indexing or replacing an insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid over-tightening, which can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
